Salary Prediction Task

INVITATION TO PARTICIPATE

You are invited to participate in a research study. We will test your perceptual and/or cognitive abilities through computerized tests on Amazon’s Mechanical Turk. The purpose of the study is to understand human perception and cognition.

INVITATION TO PARTICIPATE

The purpose of this research study is to better understand the relationship between people’s financial choices and their income. This study has been reviewed and approved by the Temple University Institutional Review Board, approval 11149. If you agree to participate in this research study, we will ask you to do the following: (1) Choose which of two rewards, presented at different points in time, you would prefer. You’ll do this several times until we can compute a single value for you. (2) Answer some questions about your preferences as well as questions about what you are like (age, gender, etc.). We estimate that all of this will take 5-15 minutes depending on your speed. At the end of the study, we’ll let you know all the details about what we’re studying and how your data contributes to the process..

RISKS

The testing may be an inconvenience and cause tiredness but the tests are not known to cause undue distress.

COSTS, BENEFITS, COMPENSATION, TIME INVOLVEMENT

There are no benefits from this study. However you will be financially compensated for this study at $10/hour. Your particular study may take less than an hour so payment will be pro-rated to the nearest 15-minute increment based on pretested-time in our laboratory. Compensation amount is posted for each HIT and is provided by the Amazon MTurk system through worker ID numbers. This study will last from 5-15 minutes, depending on your speed.

CONFIDENTIALITY

To the extent allowed by law, we limit the viewing of your personal information to people who have to review it. We cannot promise complete secrecy. The IRB, Temple University, the National Institutes of Health (which is funding this research), the Office of Human Research Protections, and other representatives of these organizations may inspect and copy your information. Otherwise we will not share information that can identify you with anyone else. The results of this study may be published. If any data is published, you will not be identified by name.

VOLUNTARY NATURE OF THIS RESEARCH
